What is your favorite childhood book, and why?
Mine would have to be The Thief of Always, by Clive Barker, (Who also wrote Hell Raiser. It was the sort of epiphany book a child needs to realize the evils of the world, and the magic that can be held in a book.
While it is frequently placed in the children/young adult's sections of the library, I would recommend this to anyone, as a quick read through an interesting adventure.

I read so much as a child, it's near impossible to choose a favourite. I did have a set of Greek/Roman mythology books with beautiful illustrations. The stories have stuck with me and are very helpful now that I'm taking Latin classes. Mythology stories are wonderful for children.
Another book I remember reading several times as a child was The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, and The Thief Lord, by Cornelia Funke. The latter is just an interesting adventure that I'd recommend for any young reader (or older one looking for a cute adventure). The Book Thief I read the year it came out, 2006. It's a more serious book, taking place during the second World War. I remember the descriptions of all the colours really standing out to me, and finding myself admiring the realistic characters. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone here.
(Anyone notice a theme in titles going here?)
